Dr. Elizabeth Goncy

Lab Director

Associate Professor of Psychology

Clinical Psychologist

Ph.D. Clinical Psychology, Kent State University

Post-doctoral studies in Prevention Science, Virginia Commonwealth University

Dr. Goncy joined the CSU Psychology faculty in the Fall of 2016. Within her previous position at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Goncy completed a post-doctoral research fellowship and grant funded by the National Institute of Justice on adolescent dating abuse in middle school youth. Dr. Goncy is a licensed psychologist with expertise in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults. She completed her APA-accredited internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham through the Civitan-Sparks Clinic, Alabama Children's Hospital, and the UAB Medical Center. Dr. Goncy enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff, daughter, Emilia, and son, Oliver. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and baking.

Ashleen is a second-year graduate student working towards her M.A. in clinical psychology. She has a B.Sc. in Psychology in Counseling skills from Middlesex University in Dubai. Her research interests include personality disorders, interpersonal relationships, abuse, and childhood trauma.

Swanaya is a graduate student working towards her M.A. Her research interests are in self-harm, abuse, trauma, and suicide. She plans to earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Breanna is a second-year graduate student working towards her M.A. in clinical psychology. She has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Her research interests include integrated health care and substance use.

Drew is a first-year graduate student working towards her M.A. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Miami University. Her research interests are in interpersonal violence, adverse childhood experiences, PTSD, and substance use disorder. She plans to earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Nishka is a first-year graduate student working towards her M.A. in clinical psychology. She has a B.S. Honours in Biomedical Sciences with a Minor in Psychology. Her research interests include acculturation, intergenerational trauma, and cross-cultural issues. Her goal is to become a practicing clinical psychologist.

Kathy is a first-year graduate student working towards her M.A. in clinical psychology. She has a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in criminology. Her research interests include LGBTQ+ issues, abusive behavior/relationships, and criminal behavior.

Emily is a first-year graduate student working towards her M.A. in clinical psychology. She has a B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Baldwin Wallace University. Her research interests include the intersection of psychology and crime. Her goal is to pursue a Ph.D. or PsyD. in clinical psychology and become a forensic psychologist.

Taylor is an undergraduate Honors student working towards her B.A. in psychology with minors in chemistry, biology, and neuroscience. Taylor is also a 4+1 student and will earn her M.A. in psychological science in Spring 2025. Her interests are in adverse childhood experiences and sexual violence. She plans to attend medical school to become a psychiatrist.
